If you are not in the Columbus area and are interested in becoming a distance site, we would love to have you! If you are a distance student and your church already has a site, please contact your site coordinator or site pastor for more information.
To become a distance site, you will need to have 2 or more applicants at your site to start. One of the core values of VLI is learning in community and students will need that aspect as they do VLI.
Once you have two or more applicants, have them go through the application process. As a new potential site, there are forms that will need to be filled out by your church in order to start a site.
The Pastor's Agreement needs to be signed by the pastor that is willing to support having the VLI site at your church. This pastor will oversee the mentoring process that the students will do, as well as any pastoral concerns that students may have during their time in VLI. The pastor is the main contact for any new applicants that want to apply, and can do an interview using this form if applicable. The interview can be done if the pastor does not know the applicant, if the applicant is from another church, or if there are some concerns about the applicant applying for VLI. The pastor will also agree to keep all VLI materials that are sent out to be used for VLI use only, as our material is copyrighted. VLI material cannot be used for anything other than for class time and mentoring time in the schedule provided by VLI.
The pastor will then find a site coordinator that will take over the responsibilities of the administration of the site. The site coordinator is the main contact for the VLI Staff and can help the students with anything that they need as listed in the student handbook. The Site Coordinator Handbook will give details as to what the site coordinator does. The site coordinator will also fill out the Site Coordinator Agreement form and send it to the VLI Representative.
Applications and site agreements can come in one package to the VLI Representative. Once these arrive and we set up your church as a site, the VLI Representative will be in contact with the site coordinator of the information pertaining to the new quarter at the time of enrollment. Your site information will be included in all emails and distribution of materials for the new quarter.
Once the site has been established, the site coordinator will receive their first package of VLI material through the mail a week before classes are to begin. This package will include the class DVD for the site to use. These will then be shown the next week to the students at your site. Also around this time, the site coordinator will hear from the VLI Representative with beginning of the quarter announcements, and other pertinent information.
There is no cost for having VLI at your church. The only cost is the tuition for the students.
