The Vineyard Leadership Institute encourages applications from those women and men who are called and committed to become Christ-like leaders. Some students will be young, having completed some university education or some training in a career; others will be shifting to ministry after leaving a previous career. Only those being prepared to lead in a ministry should apply. The primary focus of VLI is the preparation of those who want to:
- Plant a church.
- Work as a pastor or ministry director on a church staff.
- Pursue a secular occupation while ministering as a lay leader in a church, but with the proficiency of a professional pastor.
The Application Process
Students can now apply online by clicking here. In the event you are unable to complete the online application, students may download and complete the appropriate application form by clicking here.

Attention Distance Students!
- VLI requires that Applicants not attending the Columbus Campus have their local pastor's recommendation and approval into the school.
- Students not attending the Columbus campus must be recruited, recommended, and interviewed by the pastor at the local church. You must be a part of a distance site of at least two students unless you are accepted into our pastor-plus-one program. Pastor plus One allows pastors to have just one student in their site in cases where two students have not come forward for training.
- Please note that our program is pastor-driven! Before submitting an application, please confirm with your pastor or his/her delegate that they are willing to mentor you for two years.
- Pastors who want to know more about this process, may contact Vineyard Church of Columbus at 614.259.5417 or directly through our website.
- Your pastor is responsible for sending the following forms
to the VLI Representative: Signed pastoral agreement, signed site coordinator agreement, and the completed student interview and pastor approval forms if necessary.
Interviews should be completed only if the applicant is not known by the pastor, or if the pastor has some concerns about the applicant applying. Please contact VLI with any questions.
