Asbury Theological Seminary has received approval for the new Asbury Cluster Education (ACE) from the Association of Theological Schools and the Ohio Board of Regents.
This newly created program will provide graduate theological education in a classroom setting more convenient and accessible to students in the central Ohio region.
Asbury Seminary has partnered with the Vineyard Leadership Institute in Columbus.
"The complexity of ministry in the 21st century requires options for preparing for ministry while doing ministry," said Dr. Tom Tumblin, executive director of mission outreach at Asbury Seminary.
"The Asbury Cluster Education (ACE) initiative allows servants of the church to learn 'in place' from full-time Asbury professors committed to taking theological education to the field."
The program, which is set to begin this fall, will offer courses that can be applied to the Master of Divinity and selected Master of Arts degrees.
Ten core courses will be offered at the ACE sites over a two-year period, beginning with Columbus. Students following the prescribed ACE plan will be able to earn 30 hours toward their degree.
"The weekend modules offered each month provide three days of learning in a formational context," Tumblin said.
"ACE students will study and worship together. They will bring the wisdom of their own ministry experiences to a community dedicated to strengthening Christian leaders.
