Short-term Mission Host

This position will require good communication with both the leader of the team from the USA and/or other countries and the local contacts in Ecuador. This means Spanish will eventually be required but it's possible to learn while performing the task at hand.

Requirements:

  • A heart for reaching the lost, the poor (VISION)
  • An understanding of Kingdom ministry
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Being a team player and willing to work with people from many cultures
  • Administration: Managing more than one group. Managing details.
  • Relational skills. Being able to communicate well with North Americans and their culture while communicating culturally in Ecuador.
  • Creating and maintaining a budget for each team
  • Minimum 1 year commitment (preferred 3 year)
  • Spanish (can be learned while on field)
  • Computer skills (preferred skills in Mac and Apple products)
Responsibilities:
  • Creating opportunities for teams within the overall goals of the Vineyard in Ecuador
  • Hosting teams: Includes finding housing, providing food, all transportation etc. Also includes safety issues, communication with the team both on details (such as above) and communicating the vision for that particular team. What is there ministry and how should they be prepared.
  • Hosting Teams Extra: This is to provide opportunities for churches that perhaps have a "vision" for their team and doing the best job possible to achieve their needs while accomplishing our goals.
  • Building relationships with Ecuadorians in order for us to continue to provide great team experiences and show that the Vineyard is here to help the body of Christ
  • Providing a budget for each team
  • Raising your own support, which also means communication with supporters on a monthly basis (or more).
Resources:
  • On the job training with a veteran mentor
  • Basic contact lists and previous budgets
  • Education, on the job and retreats for our team
Hours expected:
  • 40-50 hours a week. (includes school hours for Spanish if needed and changes when teams are here and when there is a need to recuperate from a team.)
  • When a team is here, it will be nearly 24 hours . . . we aren't looking for someone to punch a clock but someone willing to get the job done.
